{"id":386,"date":"2013-02-06T10:40:38","date_gmt":"2013-02-06T16:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/areciv.com\/blog\/?p=386"},"modified":"2013-02-06T02:30:33","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T08:30:33","slug":"capacitor-plague-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/areciv.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/capacitor-plague-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Capacitor Plague (Part II)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/areciv.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/capacitor-plague-part-i\/\" title=\"Capacitor Plague (Part I)\">Part I<\/a>, I discovered my monitor suffered from the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Capacitor_plague\">capacitor plague<\/a>.  I ordered new capacitors to repair it and received them a few days later.<\/p>\n<p>It only took about 15 minutes to desolder the bad capacitors and install the new ones.  I only had one issue: the CapXon datasheet said that the 1000 \u00b5F capacitor was 13mm in diameter, so I ordered a 13mm replacement.  I should have measured because the capacitors in the board were only 10mm wide.  Thankfully there was enough space to squeeze the larger replacements in.
